A monstrous pub landlord raped an eight-year-old girl and held a knife to her throat saying he would kill her if she told anybody.
Marland previously pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child, three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of making indecent photos of a child, three counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two counts of voyeurism.
Mitigating, Michael Goldwater told the court that prior to the offences, Marland had lived a ‘perfectly creditable working life’ as a pub landlord. Marland will have to serve two-thirds of his 17-year prison sentence before he can be considered for parole.
