James Peoples attacked the man at Sylvester's Bar and Soul Suite in Preston
James Peoples, 36, admitted ABH after the incident at Sylvester's Bar and Soul Lounge on Church Street. Police were called to the bar in the early hours of Sunday, October 1 following reports a man in his 60s had been punched.
The man was taken to hospital and later discharged. Peoples, of Dodgson Place, Preston, was arrested and charged with ABH. He pleaded guilty two days after the attack and appeared at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday, October 31.Recorder Charlotte Dean handed him a 12 month community order and said he must complete 100 hours of unpaid work. He must also pay £600 compensation to his victim.
Preston City Council is now reviewing the premises' licence following concerns suitable steps were not being taken to prevent crime and disorder at the bar - formerly known as Barney's.
