The pub is under 20 miles from Liverpool and is worth the journey
Found just next next to the Leeds and Liverpool canal is a pub with an amazing beer garden which will easily draw you in from a country walk. The Ring O'Bells in Lathom, West Lancashire, this week claimed two prizes in the LUXlife Hospitality Awards 2024 - winning country pub of the year and best Sunday lunch.
Much of that success can be credited to its expansive beer garden. When I visited in November, partly with the intention of going on a walk down the canal - but more truthfully to check out the revamped pub - I was taken by the fantastic space. The stylish drinking area then gives way to a big conservatory being used as a dining room, bordered by windows looking out towards the canal. However, I think the best spot is an outside seat.
The terraces catch the sun, they are stylishly designed - like the pub itself - and there's even a play area for those too young to enjoy a lager. When the temperature drops, there's a fire pit, which does not go amiss.
