The landlord has pulled out all the stops to create a spooky atmosphere
decorations. The bar at the Peacock, in Mansfield Road, has been transformed into a horror fest for the spookiest time of the year.
"We did it last year on a smaller scale. The Jack in the Box last year was built to be exactly my size. It had a Heineken rugby top on and a mask. Sometimes it was a mannequin in the box and sometimes it was me. I used to jump out at people. I love Halloween as you get to scare people. The decorations will remain throughout October building up to Friday, October 25 with vocalist Lee Anthony, a fire breather, stilt walker, prizes for the best fancy dress, and games."The gallows become doughnut gallows where you have a doughnut hanging above your head and have to eat it without your hands - you get covered in it, it's messy and disgusting. We'll do apple bobbing in individual plastic bowls on the bar.
"My partner saw one upstairs in the flat. I was in the office and he came down here as white as a sheet and said he'd seen a man with a big Victorian collar put his head around the door. My last venue in Blackpool had much worse. They used to break things. They smashed bottles."
