'Our famous skier Yelena Välbe suggested dropping a bomb on London,' said Medvedev, now Putin's deputy on the Kremlin's security council. Skier Välbe, 56, a highly decorated sportswoman and now president of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation, declared: 'I think that if we threw some serious bomb in the centre of London, everything would have ended by now, and we'd be allowed everywhere.
Former boxer Nikolai Valuev, 51, now a Putin-backing MP for Kremlin-loyal United Russia Party, said: 'If you imagine that in any of the past six centuries, the British Isles suddenly sank into the ocean, then for the rest of the world, indeed, there would be fewer problems for a certain time.
