Russia is attempting to trade food for weapons with North Korea in an attempt to advance its stance in its 13-month-long war in Ukraine, the White House says.
The White House on Thursday revealed it has uncovered new evidence that Moscow was turning to its allies for military aid, with the recent to be North Korea.
Moscow’s trade offer comes as rumours have circulated about North Korea struggling to feed its citizens, with experts labelling the food crisis “critical”.White House spokesman Kirby also previously claimed North Korea was “secretly” supplying Russia with ammunition. Russian state television war correspondent Aleksander Sladkov, in a recent claim, said North Korea will support Russia in its war against Ukraine.
It comes as the invasion reached its one-year mark in February, with Ukraine adamant to hold off Russian attacks.
