Teal independent Kylea Tink has given the strongest indication yet she will contest another seat in a bid to stay in parliament after her electorate of North Sydney was abolished by the federal redistribution of NSW. She did so while appearing alongside other teals to demand the government and the opposition release their 2035 emissions reduction targets before the next federal election, due by mid-May.
Asked it that mean she would run in the nearby seat of Bradfield, held by Liberal frontbencher Paul Fletcher, Tink said she believed she had more to contribute to politics. “If there’s anything that the last two and a half years in this place has taught me, it’s that voices like mine and my colleagues on the cross bench have bought an unusually high level of accountability and an unusually high level of constructive debate into this place,” she said.
