The Queensland community is being urged to leave tackling crime to police, as it was revealed a man chasing an allegedly stolen vehicle over the weekend was found with “edged weapons”. 7NEWS

“By all means have your peaceful protests, but if you’re detected committing an offence, then you will be charged.”Peachey also said groups should reconsider their “patrols”. “And how quickly things could have escalated for a 19-year-old kid, untrained … trying to take the law into his own hands?”Peachey said he understood the community’s frustration, but vigilantism would not ease tensions.“The community is bubbling at the moment, and we don’t think it’s probably been helped by some behaviour.”
