A perfect winter walk for the weekend
After a January which felt like it lasted twice as long as it should, the cold weather seems to be finally shifting. The days are getting a little warmer and the dark nights are setting in ever so slightly later again.
If you've avoided heading out as much in the icy conditions, this weekend could be an ideal time to venture back out in more enjoyable conditions. As such, we're suggesting a simple walk isn't too long and doesn't have difficult conditions for anyone looking to start up again. The walk takes us to the villages of Coupe Green and Gregson Lane in South Ribble and offers a peaceful place to visit. The route is adapted from one created by South Ribble Borough Council which we've modified to add a stop at the Oak pub in the Hoghton. It is a frequent stopping point for walkers and cyclists who will be welcomed in whether they're planning to stop for a quick drink or a meal.
And a lot of people online agree - with the most recent TripAdvisor reviewer describing the food served there as "incredible". The venue is also dog friendly for those bringing their pets along for the walk. The walk covers a distance of a little over three and a half miles and should take around one hour and 15 minutes to complete. It is mostly on good footpaths but there are some muddier patches so it's important to ensure you have appropriate footwear.
