El consulado mexicano en Orlando brindaba apoyo en el hospital AdventHealth Ocala, a donde fueron trasladados muchos de los heridos.

Un autobús que transportaba a trabajadores agrícolas hacia una plantación de sandías en la región central de Florida fue impactado de costado por un conductor en estado de ebriedad y quedó volcado sobre un campo, dejando ocho muertos y decenas de heridos, informaron las autoridades. El hombre acusado de provocar el choque del martes tiene un largo historial de delitos viales y permanece encarcelado sin derecho a fianza.

Los trabajadores viajan a Florida con visas estacionales o temporales para recolectar frutas y verduras de las granjas. Estos trabajadores se encontraban en el condado de Marion, situado en el centro-norte de Florida. El condado es conocido en especial por su paisaje lleno de colinas, el cual se distingue del resto de la geografía llana que caracteriza al estado.
