Queen Elizabeth II was Britain's longest-reigning monarch and met thousands of people in the decades since she acceded to the throne in 1952, at the age of 25.
During her lifetime she was Queen Regnant of 32 different states, and at the time of her death she was the monarch of 15 different countries. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days is the longest of any British monarch and the longest recorded of any female head of state in history. In fact, the only sovereign in world history to have reigned for longer was Louis XIV of France, who reigned from May 1643 to September 1715.
