Rossendale-born revered David Hoyle is currently the Dean of Westminster, and therefore was responsible for conducting the State funeral. Queen Elizabeth II died on September aged 96, after serving 70 years on the throne.
The longest-serving monarch's funeral is the first to be held at Westminster Abbey since 1760. The service was broadcast live to billions around the world. The Dean met Her Majesty during a service at Westminster Abbey in 2020, to mark the centenary of the burial of the Unknown Warrior.
