Queen Letizia has turned her attention to another of her royal style staples.
To attend an event in Madrid this week with her husband, King Felipe VI of Spain, the royal wore a blue tweed belted Zara dress , that features a demure bateau neckline. It wasn’t the first time Letizia opted for the flattering style – she’s chosen Bardot-style dresses by Carolina Herrera and Delpozo for royal engagements in the past.
Off-the-shoulder necklines were christened “Bardot” in honour of the French actor and model Brigitte Bardot, who made the look her signature in the ’50s and ’60s. As a muse for Dior, Pierre Cardin and Balmain, she quickly became synonymous with the subtle yet statement-making style.As we move further into autumn, a neckline that reveals a hint of shoulder and collarbone is a subtle way to soak up the last of the mild temperatures.
