The Queensland government will actively support the Yes campaign for the Voice despite fears over backlash in the regions. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says she and every member of her caucus will campaign alongside Yes supporters ahead of the October 14 referendum. Queensland is a state where the vote is on track to fail according to Labor’s polling; and is especially prevalent in the regions. This is causing concern for some Labor MPs from the regions who fear that the party’s support for the Yes campaign will damage its brand ahead of next year’s state election. This concern however is not shared by the state’s premier.
