Queenslanders are bracing for several days of extreme weather including fierce thunderstorms and a scorching heatwave.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a double warning today as severe storms and brutal heatwave conditions batter large parts of the state.

The thunderstorms are set to hit southern inland parts of Queensland east of Charleville, primarily impacting the Southern Downs and Granite Belt, for most of today.Queensland is bracing for several days of extreme weather including a brutal heatwave. Thunderstorms are forecast for the north-west and central west belt of Queensland, with conditions set to worsen towards the south-east coast.

Low to severe heatwave conditions are set to impact far north, northern, north-west, central and central-western Queensland today.The Bureau of Meterology also issued a thunderstorm warning for large parts of the state. Maximum temperatures are forecast to be the high 30s to low 40s while minimum temperatures in the mid to high 20s.

"Severe heatwave conditions are building over the north with isolated pockets of extreme heatwave conditions expected to develop in the coming days," the Bureau of Meteorology said.for the Kimberley and Pilbara regions, and the northern districts in Western Australia until Wednesday,
