Opposition Leader David Crisafulli suggests a rebuild or upgrade of the Gabba would be 'part of the mix' of a planned Olympics review to be ordered by an LNP government.
Queensland Opposition Leader David Crisafulli has left the door open to a revamp of the Gabba for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The state Labor government had initially planned to rebuild the Gabba and use it as the main arena for the Brisbane Games at a cost of $2.7 billion. "The Olympic infrastructure co-ordination authority will be tasked with making sure that there is exactly what this bid was always about," he said. The LNP leader also hit out at the government's QSAC proposal – saying there was a "huge sense of embarrassment" over the venue."And as a result, the government have locked themselves into a facility that does neither a long-term legacy nor create a world-class buzz.
