OMG, a queer nightclub in Liverpool's Pride Quarter, will donate all profits from January 6th to Sahir House, a charity The Vivienne supported. The Vivienne, the first winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, passed away over the weekend.
A Pride Quarter venue has promised to donate all of its profits to charity following The Vivienne's death. Queer nightclub OMG, located on Victoria Street, has chosen Sahir House as the recipient - a charity The Vivienne worked closely with on numerous occasions throughout her career. The publicist of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’s first-ever winner took to Instagram to announce they had died over the weekend.
Simon Jones issued a tribute to the TV star , explaining how they were more than just a client but also a friend. He said: 'It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams - The Vivienne , has passed this weekend. James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. 'They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James's family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.' All of the profits made from tonight (January 6) at OMG will be donated to Sahir House. The organisation is Liverpool's oldest LGBT+ charity and renowned for the work it does for those with or affected by HIV across the Liverpool City Region. A statement shared from OMG read: 'It’s hard to know what to do when hearing such devastating news. Do we open, or do we close? Our queens are the heart and soul of our community here in Liverpool. Our thoughts are also with our friends at her home, Superstar Boudoir Liverpool. 'Tonight, we will open, and all profit will be donated to The Vivienne’s favourite charity, Sahir House. Join us tonight in making a difference for a cause close to The Vivienne’s heart. To all the queens on tonight’s rota, let’s put on a smile and try to make a difference if you can.
