Quentin Tarantino talks about his shift to writing plays, his plans to involve his son in his next movie, and his criticism of the current state of film releases.
Quentin Tarantino recently traveled from Israel to Utah to participate in a discussion at the Sundance Film Festival . During his conversation with film critic Elvis Mitchell, the acclaimed director, known for his work on films like Reservoir Dogs and Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood, shared his thoughts on his career trajectory and plans for his future projects. While Tarantino acknowledged his passion for filmmaking, he revealed that fatherhood has taken center stage in his life.
He stated that he has no immediate plans to return to directing, preferring to focus on writing while his children are young. He expressed a desire to involve his son in his next film once he reaches the age of six, ensuring it becomes a lasting memory for both of them. Tarantino also spoke about his daughter, who he described as a genius, and expressed confidence that she would understand the intricacies of filmmaking. Tarantino's wife, Daniella Tarantino, shared a snippet of his statement on Instagram, highlighting his role as a devoted family man. Although he is not currently engaged in film production, Tarantino is actively involved in writing a play, which he considers his next creative endeavor. He views the world of theater as the 'final frontier' in filmmaking, recognizing the challenges and opportunities it presents. He confessed that he is unsure if he can successfully navigate the complexities of theater but is determined to give it his best shot. Tarantino lamented the current state of film releases, criticizing the rapid shift from theaters to streaming platforms, which he believes diminishes the cinematic experience. He declared 2019 as the 'last year of movies,' citing the decline in theatrical releases and the rise of streaming as a significant factor. His perspective suggests a sense of disillusionment with the current trajectory of the film industry
