The plans include building a solar farm on land roughly the size of 150 football pitches to generate 57 GWh of clean renewable electricity per year.
Coylton Community Council has launched a questionnaire to gauge local opinion over plans for a 100,000-panel solar farm.
The proposals have been lodged at the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit for review. Locogen also say the solar farm will “contribute” to meeting Scotland’s ‘net zero by 2045’ target.Ayrshire Live previously told how a group called ‘No to Loch Fergus Solar Farm’ has already been formed to oppose the development. Now Coylton Community Council is asking the general public what their views are.
"Coylton Community Council have a few weeks left to comment on the planning proposals related to this project. “The feedback from Locogen, the company who are fronting the project, is that residents are predominantly in favour of the solar panels being erected close to the village.
