Fans at Download 2026 festival are queuing for hours to buy merchandise, food, drink, and even tattoos, with the indoor Megastore seeing lines from early morning despite more than 80,000 attendees. While some embrace queuing as part of the experience, others express frustration at the long waits for discounted and premium items.
Download 2026 has gone queuing mad - whether its merchandise, tattoos or just for food and drink fans are happy standing in line for their goods it seems.
Queues for the indoor merchandise store were snaking around the barriers from as early as 11am on the second day of the annual festival at Donington Park . With more than 80,000 people on site, it is inevitable that you have to be patient and be prepared to queue but it was unusual to see such an early morning rush for merchandise this year.
One couple - Becky and Andrew from London, were queuing with their four-year-old, Asa, to buy an extra furry toy. Becky said: "We don't mind queuing and I don't think we will have to wait long. We just need to get another toy.
"It's ok to queue. all part of the experience and we are having a great time. " Other people were leaving the store with new T-shirts - the favourite being Guns n' Roses which are Saturday night's headlining band. At the nearby onsite Coop superstore the queue was even longer and it was still only 11.15am, with many people emerging carrying boxes of beer.
One man, called Jack, from Belfast, who joined the queue at the back look less than pleased to be queuing. He went on the phone to report his situation but clearly was told to stay in the queue. He said: "Think I am going to be here for ages but I need to get in there.
" However, he never revealed what he was shopping for that was so important. Reports that the Megastore in the Village on the site has been having three-hour queues are apparently not exaggerated - people are willing to wait that long to buy branded goods at some cheaper prices but there are also some expensive items such as a £300 gaming chair.
Queues were also starting to build at the Old Sarum Tattoo Parlour and by the end of the day they will probably the one with the longest wait - you can't do tattoos in five minutes.
