Airports CRIPPLED by recruitment 'catastrophe' for a YEAR' leaving Brits facing summer holiday HELL
Lucy Moreton, General Secretary of the Immigration Services Union , spoke to BBC R4 about staffing. She said Border Force were 'catastrophically understaffed' ahead of a busy Easter weekend for air travel. Ms Moreton warned holidaymakers they face longer than average queues at Passport Control this weekend. She also told the Today programme that staff were being moved form airports to Dover to deal with migrants.
Meanwhile, a recruitment expert today said the current staffing issues at UK airports could last up to a year. It comes as pictures show passengers queueing in car park outside Manchester Airport's Terminal 1 today. Holidaymakers also faced long queues inside the terminal, including at check-in and at baggage enquiries. At Birmingham airport, passengers said they faced 90-minute wait for security, with some being fast-tracked.
