The first KFC branch in Liverpool opened a decade earlier in 1965
It's now been nearly 60 years since KFC opened its first branch in Liverpool. Kentucky Fried Chicken, the brainchild of Colonel Sanders, first arrived in the UK in 1965 and its inaugural restaurant opened in Preston in May that year. But that same year, the first Liverpool branch also opened on County Road in Walton - which at the time was one of only three KFC's in the country.
Also published in the feature was an ad promoting Kentucky Katering, which supplied special occasions - such as weddings, picnics, reunions, receptions, jamborees, anniversaries and parties - with Kentucky Fried Chicken. This included prices of menu items that customers could takeaway, from chicken dinners to party buckets, sides and more. We have now created a quiz with a range of questions to see if you can guess the prices of KFC items from nearly 50 years ago in 1975.
