SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Constellation creator Peter Harness has detailed the sci-fi show's multiverse reveal, explaining there were rules involved in crafting the elements involved. The series has constantly hinted that Jo is experiencing two sets of reality at once because of the test of the CAL aboard the ISS. However, episode 7 fully confirmed this to be the case, revealing she is torn between two realities because of what transpired in space.

Well, it's really — and I don't know how clearly we kind of land on this — there are two realities. It's a mirrored reality and a kind of superposition, liminal space in between the two, where kind of both things can happen at once. I think, having a multiverse, as I worked out how those two different things, like the woman in space and the girl in the forest, were going to join up, it was a long process to work out how they kind of joined up.

The rules established in the multiverse so far have been established mostly through Jo, Alice, and Henry, who have been shown to see the in-between of their reality and the alternate dimension. While it's unclear what triggers them to see the other world, any of Harness' examples, from the CAL to emotional states, could be a definitive explanation.
