Kids go free at Sunday's family fun day and seven-race card featuring the Grade Two Old Roan Chase
Racing returns to the home of the Randox Grand National as Aintree Racecourse hosts a Halloween-themed family fun day where kids go free this Sunday.
On the track, racing returns for the first fixture of the season, with a bumper seven-race card featuring the Grade Two Jewson Old Roan Chase, which was won last year by the Richard Hobson-trained Riders Onthe Storm, who was owned locally by Southport-born Carl Hinchy and Scouser Mark Scott. There will also be two exciting pony races before the main action starts at 12.50pm.
The Old Roan Chase, first ran in 2004, is a Grade Two Chase run over 2m4f of the Mildmay course at Aintree. It has been won by some top chasers in the past including triple hero Monet's Garden and the great Kauto Star . This year there are currently 14 entries including last year's runner-up Hitman and Dan Skelton's returning My Drogo.
