Daisy Pearce has joined the Geelong Football Club as part of the AFL’s Women’s Coach Acceleration Program.“We’re seeing it around the world in other sports now, and why not in AFL footy? It’ll only be a matter of time.” “Just get in, eyes and ears open, help out wherever I can, initially, and where that takes me, who knows,” she said.“Initially, it will have a fair bit in development, but then, on matchdays, I think at this stage I’ll be working with the forwards and Nigel Lapin who, again, is another amazing mentor and teacher.
As part of the program, Pearce will join the men’s program as development coach in a multifaceted role that will see her participate in game-planning sessions, match committee meetings, and have access to the AFL matchday coaching box.
