Furious Edinburgh residents have hit out after mindless vandals who graffitied newly installed park sculptures
.
One of the largest, a vehicle, has been painted with the words: "Bagdad b***r boys", causing several locals to condemn the mindless act, reports Edinburgh Live. Last month, 25 life-size bronze lions were exhibited at the popular park to raise awareness of the plight of the animals population numbers in the wild.
The feline sculptures tell the story of a real-life lion, from Christian, the cub purchased from Harrods department store in London and successfully returned to the wild in Kenya, to Cora, saved from appalling conditions in a Spanish zoo and now living at a sanctuary in South Africa. Hundreds of locals have flocked to see the brilliant display but many have now been left upset due to the recent vandalism.Another Twitter user commented: "Unfortunately it is a very typically Edinburgh outcome at the moment and reflective of the general state of the city."
