A special win for Jon Rahm 🇪🇸 themasters
Jon Rahm ensured their was no LIV Golf triumph at The Masters by claiming his first green jacket on a special day for Spain.rebel Brooks Koepka in the final round to win by four shots.He also defeated LIV instigator Phil Mickelson, who came from nowhere to shoot a record-breaking 65 on Sunday and finish joint-second with Koepka.
Three-time Masters champion Mickelson carded the lowest-ever score by a player over 50 despite a difficult two years on and off the course.But despite some success for LIV, with Patrick Reed also inside the top-ten, Rahm denied them a statement victory. It is a second major title for the world No.3, who follows in the footsteps of the two-time champion Seve Ballesteros.
Rahm dedicated his 2021 US Open win to the late Spaniard and this victory comes on what would’ve been Ballasteros’ 66th birthday. Spain’s Sergio Garcia also won his green jacket on April 9 in 2017, while 1994 and 1994 champion Jose Maria Olazabal congratulated Rahm behind the 18th green.
