A rainy week is ahead for many Australians thanks to a 3,000 kilometre rain band stretching across the entire country.

Sydney should escape much of the downpour and has sunny weather forecast for the majority of the week until Wednesday.The entirety of the southeast suffered through a deluge over the weekend, with 48mm of rain falling on Adelaide and 100mm on the nearby Mount Lofty Ranges.
