THE state pension age should go up to 75, according to a think tank run by the man behind Boris Johnson’s prime ministerial campaign. The Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) wants the pension age to reach 70 by 2028 and 75 by 2035.
The CSJ claims half of all adults will be over 50 by the mid-2030s, and that the UK has fewer older people at work than similar nations. And in a report out today the think tank condemns a “socially inexcusable and economically short-sighted” lack of support for older workers which it argued would put them off taking jobs.
