Contractors will be testing pavement structures at Harrisburg West and Gettysburg Pike interchanges in Cumberland County
Turnpike officials remind drivers that, weather permitting, planned closures at the ramps on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at the Harrisburg West Interchange, Exit 242, and thereafter at the Gettysburg Pike Interchange, Exit 236, will result in local, overnight detours in Central PA this weekend.While the interchanges will be open, access, via the entry and exit ramps, will be closed at various times in the overnight pavement testing operation.
This mobile testing operation for the Harrisburg West Interchange will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, and will be completed by 5 a.m. on Sunday.Thereafter, at 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, the mobile testing operation for the Gettysburg Pike Interchange will begin. That testing is slated to be completed by 4 a.m. on Monday, March 25.The primary purpose of this type of testing, known as coring, is to verify the existing pavement structure conditions and depths.
