However, it was Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale who hinted at Stones’ nickname in a video of the squad arriving for England duty.
Stones will be aiming to add to his 69 England caps without picking up an injury as City compete for an unprecedented double treble. It will be the final time that the centre-back will be on international duty until summer, with Southgate expected to name his initial training squad shortly after the end of the season.
