It comes as the Hoops pulled the plug on an early season fan return after claiming they were given no guarantees that work done to ensure the safety of travelling fans would be completed in time.
Rangers has applied to Glasgow City Council for planning permission to install safety nets at high risk Ibrox fixtures.
As a result, the champions took the planned away allocation for the Celtic Park clash on September 1 off the table. However, talks with the SPFL left the door open for the final two derbies of the 2024/25 campaign, provided agreed safety measures were in place. The application is for safety netting to be erected in the corner of Ibrox between the Broomloan and Govan stands. The document read: "24/01651/BW | Installation of demountable safety netting system to the corner of the Broomloan and Govan stands for high risk fixtures."
He said: "The club's job is to protect the support and if there's not that guarantee come the second fixture then I think it's only logical that you wouldn't reciprocate. Celtic have played their part.
