Despite a shaky start to the season, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been given assurances that he will remain in his position until the end of the 2024-2025 season. Scott McDermott, chief sportswriter for the Sunday Mail, believes Clement's recent victory over Celtic has provided him with some breathing room.
Rangers boss Philippe Clement will survive in the Ibrox hot seat until the end of the season. The Belgian’s future has been in focus for much of the first half of the season as his side careered from one crushing result to the next. But he will be given time, according to the Sunday Mail’s chief sportswriter Scott McDermott. He reckons the win over Celtic has given the boss some breathing space.
Clement earned his first win over the Hoops to kick-off 2025 but Rangers followed up that impressive display against Brendan Rodgers' side with a disappointing 3-3 draw against Hibs. That saw Celtic extend their lead at the Scottish Premiership summit once again - with the Hoops now holding a 13-point advantage over their rivals in the race for the title. The Light Blues' record on the road has added to their struggles on the road - and Clement takes his side to Dundee on Thursday night. Asked about the prospect of another slip-up at Dens Park raising pressure on Clement, McDermott told Record Sport's Hotline Live: 'I think he will get until the end of the season now. Unless it goes horrendously bad with a big run of losing games. 'The Old Firm win has bought him a bit of time'
