Rangers' dream transfer window sees Morgan Whittaker sign and two high-earners exit
Rangers are in the middle of a summer rebuild as the club look to improve from last year's singular cup-winning season.
Jefte moved from Fluminense to Ibrox for a £670,000 fee that will see the left-back stay at the club for four years. Cortes initially came to Glasgow on loan in January but an injury kept him off the pitch. Rangers then decided to sign the winger to another one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy next summer - meaning he will be at Ibrox through to 2029.
In terms of exits, Turkish club Trabzonspor have scooped up left-back Borna Barisic and midfielder John Lundstram as free agents after they left Ibrox this summer. Goalkeeper Robby McCrorie headed to Ayrshire to sign for Kilmarnock and youngster Kieran Wright has been loaned out to Scottish Championship side Airdrieonians for the 2024/25 campaign.
Record Sport exclusively reported that Lawrence Shanland is on Philippe Clement's wanted list this summer. The Hearts striker only has a year left on his Tynecastle deal and is very much a proven Premiership hitman, as well as netting for the Jambos in Europe last season. "I know Glasgow Rangers are tight in terms of money to pay for a striker to come into the football club, but with a free agent that opens it up a little bit because then you’ve just got to cover his salary. I don’t know, his dad Kevin played at West Brom, and we all know the job Carlos Corberan did there, and maybe that would be a very good move for him at this time, as I think West Brom will be pushing for the play-offs next season.
However, chairman Dogan hasn't ruled out the interest in any other players, such as Tavernier, as he said: "Our plan B was ready and we took action immediately. Our new right-back will arrive in a day or two. Our only thought is to create a team that makes the fans happy, stands tall on the field and fights. Our fans should not worry. Trabzonspor will fight for the top.
Goldson is another long-time squad member at Rangers who could be heading for the back door after Clement pulled the 31-year-old from the starting line-up during his first season as boss.
