Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor weighs in on the controversial penalty decision during the Premier Sports Cup final between Rangers and Celtic.

Baffled Gabby Agbonlahor believes that the decision to deny Rangers a penalty claim during the Premier Sports Cup final defeat to Celtic was a 'tough one' for the VAR team. Liam Scales pulled down Vaclav Cerny on the edge of the box in injury time at Hampden with referee John Beaton awarding a free-kick to the Light Blues.

Alan Muir and Frank Connor in the VAR room upheld the on-field decision despite it appearing that Cerny's foot was on the line - indicating a spot-kick should have been awarded. Rangers boss Philippe Clement was furious following the full-time whistle with incoming CEO Patrick Stewart demanding answers from the SFA following the controversial call. Amid the storm, SFA chief executive Ian Maxwell responded to the furious reaction from Ibrox by admitting some 'decisions will be wrong' due to human nature with Head of Referee Operations Willie Collum holding talks with Rangers on Wednesday. Agbonlahor said: “It looked right on the line. His body looked to be on the left-hand side of the line but the shirt pull was on the line. “It was a tough one, wasn’t it? Great game though, amazing. It was so end-to-end. That’s what you want to see as a neutral, Rangers and Celtic going head-to-head.” Tune in to Hotline Live every Sunday to Thursday and have your say on the biggest issues in Scottish football
