Ianis Hagi has been told to remain at Rangers for as long as possible, as the Romanian FA technical director believes he won't find a better club. Meanwhile, Rabbi Matondo is poised for a European loan move, while Borna Barisic is considering a return to Bosnia with FK Sarajevo.
A high-ranking member of the Romanian Football Association has advised Ianis Hagi to remain at Rangers for as long as possible, stating that he won't find a better club. Hagi faced a challenging period at Ibrox over the past two seasons due to a contract dispute, leading to a loan spell at Alaves in La Liga. However, after recovering from a serious knee injury, he has become a crucial player under the current manager, Philippe Clement.
Even during his limited playing time at Rangers, Hagi consistently represented Romania, notably shining at Euro 2024. Mihai Stoichita, Romania's technical director, believes playing regularly at Rangers is essential for Hagi's development and that he won't find a more suitable club. Stoichita, who has managerial experience with Steaua Bucharest, Armenia, and Kuwait, emphasized Hagi's recent return to form and the importance of consistent playing time. He stated, 'Ianis Hagi is playing for Rangers. Let him continue to play for Rangers because that's very good for him. You can't keep at the same levels all the time - he had a dip and now he's back to top form. For Ianis, the most important thing is him playing every week and he's doing that at Rangers now. He played in the national team even when he wasn't playing for Rangers. In my opinion, he won't get a bigger club than Rangers. He is playing every week for an important team. It's perfect for him.' Meanwhile, Rabbi Matondo, a Welsh winger, appears to have an uncertain future at Rangers. He has struggled with injuries and limited playing opportunities under Clement. Matondo is reportedly close to joining a European club on loan, with interest also coming from the English Championship. In other news, former Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is poised for a move to Bosnian champions FK Sarajevo. Barisic, who made 236 appearances for Rangers, left the club in the summer to join Trabzonspor, but has found himself out of the first team picture. He is considering an offer from Sarajevo, managed by Zoran Zekic, his former coach at Osijek.
