Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh candidly discusses her struggles with alopecia, revealing she's been battling the condition since childhood. During a conversation on Lorraine about hair transplants, Ranvir shared her own experience and the challenges she's faced due to her hair loss.
Good Morning Britain 's Ranvir Singh has been candid about her battle with alopecia, which she has faced since her youth, although it might have gone unnoticed by many. The presenter first noticed her hair thinning after the death of her father from a heart attack when she was eight years old. She has dealt with this ever since and usually wears a fringe to cover the receding areas.
On a recent episode of Lorraine, which aired on Tuesday (December 17), Ranvir participated in a conversation alongside Dr. Hilary and guest Tyler West. Stepping aside from his regular TV update role, Tyler was in the studio to discuss his positive experience with a hair transplant, providing details about the process, including the transplantation of hair from the back to the front of his head. While Ranvir expressed interest in Tyler's procedure and outcomes, she also seized the moment to express support for those with alopecia. She began to wrap up the segment with a message for the viewers, stumbling slightly as she said: 'We've got to go in a minute, but just to say, it's not... you can't... alopecia...' before turning to Dr Hilary, stating openly: 'I've got alopecia as you know because we've talked about it,' according to the Mirror. With a confirming 'yes' from Dr Hilary, she recounted her own experience, revealing: 'In fact, I did go and talk about having a hair transplant, but they said, 'You haven't got enough hair at the back to do it'.' Dr Hilary offered his medical insight on the programme, explaining: 'There are different kinds of hair loss, so if it's permanent hair loss due to genetics and male pattern baldness which women can also suffer from then this would work.' He added a caveat regarding its effectiveness: 'But it's not going to work for alopecia areata,' and clarified, 'Which is when your hair falls out in clumps but will regrown spontaneously later so it's not for everybody
