Crysencio Summerville scored his third and fourth goals in seven days for Leeds United on Saturday in their rout of Huddersfield Town with a performance that pushes him to the brink of his first role model's status
In his short time on Leeds United’s frontline, Crysencio Summerville has proven to be a streaky player. Last season, there were four goals in four consecutive games, that ultimately kept Jesse Marsch in a job, but barren deserts on either side of that run.
Come May, this may prove to be the week we look back on as the breakthrough spell for Summerville. The four goals and two assists claim the headlines, but the impact of his absence on Wednesday was just as illustrative of the trajectory the number 10’s now on. Another talisman, Raphinha, was the Dutchman’s first real role model at Elland Road. Like Summerville on Saturday afternoon, the Brazilian was watching on from the dugout with an injury on ice as his understudy made his senior debut for the Whites.
If Summerville can keep his foot on the pedal and turn that streaky reputation into a season of hits, he may yet build a reputation like Raphinha’s in these parts.
