Marcus Rashford's potential January transfer away from Manchester United faces a hurdle as Juventus have reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign him due to his high wage demands.
Marcus Rashford may be denied a Manchester United exit in January if recent reports are anything to go by. The 27-year-old forward hasn't been in any of Ruben Amorim's squads since the Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen at the beginning of December. In an interview with journalist Henry Winter after he was left out of the team for the Manchester derby, Rashford admitted he was ready for a new challenge away from Old Trafford, which has prompted widespread speculation over his future.
Although Rashford is under contract until 2028, he could depart the club sooner rather than later, with the January transfer window now just a matter of days away. He has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, while Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have also been mooted as potential destinations. However, a report from The Mirror this week now claims Juventus have turned down the opportunity to sign Rashford as he looks for a way out of the club. The article states the player's current wage of £350,000 a week is significantly higher than Serie A's highest earner, striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is on around £210,000 a week. It is for that reason La Liga giants Barcelona have also reportedly rejected the opportunity to sign Rashford. It has been suggested the England international may need to lower his wage demands in order to land a move elsewhere. While Juventus are not currently considering a deal for Rashford, the article does suggest they are eager to bring Joshua Zirkzee back to Italy. The Dutch striker was signed in the summer from Bologna but is yet to truly kick on at Old Trafford with just four goals in 26 appearances across all competitions so far. Juventus boss, Thiago Motta, worked with Zirkzee at Bologna last season, when the 23-year-old scored 12 goals and registered seven assists. It has been noted, though, that United are not yet willing to write off the player, who they signed for £36.5m six months ag
