Rasmus Hojlund has experienced a respectable first season at Man United - but he will be hoping to reach the next level next season.
The goals are not flowing for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund right now. It's been a tough spell for the player.
But after ending that drought against Aston Villa on Boxing Day, Hojlund enjoyed a blistering run of form in front of goal, scoring in six consecutive Premier League games, featuring seven goals. However, he has struggled to rediscover that level of consistency since sustaining a muscle injury towards the end of February.
Though their respective characteristics and play styles are much different, Hojlund should take encouragement from the development of Alexander Isak at Newcastle United. The Swede, although a thigh injury was a contributor, was not as prolific as he would have liked to have been in his debut season in England last term, ending the campaign with 11 goals in 27 matches in all competitions.
No two players are the same. Hojlund, for instance, is part of a squad which is in desperate need of fresh blood, whereas Isak is part of a squad that features players who will be targets for a lot of clubs this summer. It has been unfortunate for Hojlund that he has experienced his debut season at Old Trafford in a campaign that has been dominated by injuries throughout the squad. United have had very little consistency in any area of the team, meaning that has had an undisputed impact on his hopes of enjoying a more lucrative campaign in front of goal.
