Bright, juicy red raspberries have a ton of nutritional benefits. So it's probably no surprise that dietitians are excited when raspberry season comes around. 'Lovely red raspberries are my favorite and my kids' favorite,' Theresa Gentile, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, tells TODAY.com. With their vibrant red color, natural balance of sweetness and tartness along with a unique texture, it's hard not to love raspberries.
Considering that most of us only eat around 13 or 14 grams of fiber in a day, adding a cup of raspberries will get us much closer to the recommended minimum of 25 grams per day we should be eating. However, be advised that the large amount of fiber in raspberries can lead to some gastric distress if you eat too many too quickly, the experts warn. That can cause symptoms like bloating, diarrhea or constipation, Gentile adds.
