However, the reggae sound was to creep into the Pentecostal church almost by stealth, much to the displeasure of some of the old guard. The greatest reggae artists were, and remain, Jamaican Rastafarians. If you want to become a world class Opera star and you are not Italian, you go to Italy to learn. If you want to become an authentic world class reggae star and you are not Jamaican, you go to Jamaica to learn.
Take for instance the song ‘Out Deh’ by 29 year old International Grammy nominated reggae artist Chronixx, that includes the line With dem daughters and sons and mek sure the homework well done”. This has not meant that the cultural transition, in terms of acceptance within black communities, has been smooth though.
