Raul Fernandez, the Trackhouse MotoGP rider, suffered a crash during pre-season testing at Sepang, breaking his left hand's little finger. He underwent successful surgery in Barcelona and is expected to be fit for the upcoming Buriram test.

Raul Fernandez will be able to participate in next week's MotoGP test at Buriram after successfully undergoing surgery on his fractured finger on Thursday afternoon. The Trackhouse rider sustained a significant crash on the opening day of pre-season testing at Turn 9 at Sepang, resulting in a fracture of his left hand's little finger and an impact on his left foot.

Following an initial examination at Sepang International Circuit, Fernandez had to return to Barcelona on Wednesday afternoon due to his finger injury. It was reported that the foot injury was a minor crack that did not necessitate surgery. Fernandez arrived in Spain early on Thursday and proceeded directly to Hospital Universitari Dexeus, where Dr. Xavier Mir was waiting to attend to him. After a series of tests to rule out any additional injuries, the Spaniard underwent surgery performed by a team led by Dr. Mir. 'The operation was a success,' declared Fernandez's spokesperson. 'He suffered a clean fracture, without displacement, at the base of the little finger of the left hand. They have reduced the fracture and placed a small pin to stabilize it. 'Raul will be able to start rehabilitation immediately and travel to Thailand for the next test.' Unlike factory Aprilia rider Jorge Martin, who experienced a severe head blow and was hospitalized for 24 hours of observation after being concussed but not unconscious, Trackhouse racer Fernandez was not affected in the head and was able to board a plane on Wednesday night. Martin, on the other hand, had to wait until Thursday before flying back to Spain and won't undergo surgery on the fifth metacarpal bone in his right hand until Friday. Also departing Malaysia on Thursday was VR46 rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, who suffered a fractured left collarbone and will now travel to Rome for surgery on his left shoulder. The surgery will take place this weekend. He had previously injured the same shoulder during the Austrian Grand Prix in August of the previous year. After undergoing surgery performed by Professor Castagna on November 2nd, he missed the final two rounds of the 2024 season and completed his rehabilitation. The Buriram test is scheduled for February 12-13
