RCPC raises awareness of child abuse prevention on Go Blue Day.

Open house spreads awareness of resources and ways to help prevent child abuse FAIRBANKS, Alaska - On Go Blue Day , April 5, the Resource Center for Parents hosted an open house to bring awareness to local resources and to provide information on how to identify, prevent and intervene cases of child abuse .

While it can be a difficult topic to discuss, the need to do so is very high in Alaska. “We are the number one in the nation for instances of sexual assault,” Bolin said. Many of them are also involved with intervention as well. “We work with families that have office of children’s services involvement to help with reunification and for families to stay together and be safe at home and we also work with the office of children’s services, law enforcement, tribes and other partners in child maltreatment investigations,” said Bolin.
