Tom Daley has become a household name as he takes to the podium at his fifth Olympic games
One of Britain's most well-loved Olympians is back on our TV screens today as he kicks off his Paris 2024 medal campaign.
Two years later, Daley became the shock winner at the European Championships in Eindhoven, making him the youngest-ever European champion in either swimming or diving. Personal turmoil and Olympic victory But a year before he competed in the London 2012 Olympics, Tom Daley's father died. He recently told the BBC he 'wished' his dad had seen him win an Olympic medal, but that knowing how much he sacrificed for Tom's success was 'very special'.
A year later, in 2017, he married long-time sweetheart Dustin. Touching on the pair's 20 year age gap in an interview with the Guardian Tom said: 'One thing I learned early on is to not care what other people think. That's been useful since I've been with my husband. I'm 27, he's 47.
