Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington has become a familiar face for her insightful punditry after she retired from competitive swimming at the tender age of 23. The Mansfield -born star, distinguished in freestyle events during her illustrious career, was visibly emotional on-air when commenting on Adam Peaty's Olympics performance.
Agonising divorce In 2016, Rebecca's marriage to Harry Needs came to an end, following a period where she'd admitted to 'plenty of arguments', reports the Mirror. Rebecca had previously opened up about the trials of new motherhood, admitting: "Being a parent is bloody hard work and anyone who says it's easy is flat-out lying. Harry and I have had plenty of arguments. We're knackered. A lot of mums have six or eight months off. I had two months and had to go back to work."
Harry revealed that Rebecca was incredibly supportive when he came out to her a year after they parted ways. He said: "I never felt I deceived her, because I loved her and like I already said, I never had the time to discover my full sexuality." After three years together, Rebecca and Andy tied the knot at the stunning Scarlet Hall in Cheshire, shortly before welcoming their son Albie, who is now three years old.
In a heart-wrenching revelation made in October 2023, Rebecca disclosed the loss of her baby daughter Harper at 20 weeks gestation, sharing her 'true heartbreak'. On Instagram, alongside a message of thanks to the 'incredible' team at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, the bereaved mother said: "I don't really have the words right now but unfortunately we went for our 20-week scan this week and they found no heartbeat.
