Nathan Baker's escape attempt came to an abrupt end when he crashed into parked cars
A speeding BMW driver led police on a 70mph chase through a Nottingham neighbourhood before crashing into parked cars. Nathan Baker, 41, was caught speeding along Ridgeway, Top Valley , Nottingham, in the early hours of May 4 this year.
Baker then reversed his car and fled along Parkview Road, Eastglade Road and Beckhampton Road when police officers put on their blue lights to try and stop the vehicle. Baker reached speeds of between 50mph and 70mph on these residential roads, despite the limit on them being 20mph to 30mph. His escape attempt came to an abrupt end when he crashed into parked cars and was arrested by police after trying to run off. The collision flung one of his BMW’s wheels off, which significantly damaged the pursuing police car, according to officers.Baker, of Forrester Street, Netherfield, Nottingham, was jailed for a total of 18 months when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing.

Thankfully no one was injured by his display of driving that night, but that is no thanks to him.
“The message from the force is clear. We will not tolerate people who break the law by driving vehicles in a manner that puts other road users, and themselves, at risk of serious injury or death."
