AKSYON DEMOKRATIKO standard-bearer, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso, received endorsements from key political leaders on Tuesday as he led his team’s proclamation rally in the heart of the city.
Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto and House Deputy Speaker and Cebu 3rd District Rep. Pablo John “PJ” Garcia on Tuesday endorsed Moreno as a leader who lets his “actions and accomplishments do the talking” and urged voters to elect him president on May 9.
“Of all those applying to be president. Isko is, in truth, the last one I got to know and is the farthest among my friends. If I were to let personal interest rule, he’d be the last person I’d choose,” Recto said in a video message. “The pandemic tested them all. It showed up those who don’t quite make the cut,” said Recto, speaking mostly in Filipino.
Recto’s endorsement is significant because in vote-rich Batangas, five out of six district representatives, including all 12 provincial board members and most of the province’s mayors, vice mayors and councilors, are members of One Batangas. The province has 1.7 million registered voters as of 2019.
