Despite Max Verstappen winning nine grands prix and securing his fourth consecutive drivers' world title, Red Bull finished third in the constructors' championship, trailing behind McLaren and Ferrari. Although Red Bull started the year strongly with Verstappen taking seven victories from the first ten races, the team faced performance and consistency issues with their RB20 challenger as the season progressed.
Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko acknowledges the team's struggles and states that they are working to ensure the RB21 for the 2025 season has a wider working window. Instead of solely focusing on increasing downforce and lap time, the emphasis is on improving car balance. Marko emphasizes that while 40 points of downforce are good, the four tenths of a second on the stopwatch are more crucial. Red Bull anticipates a closer competition in 2025. After failing to defend their constructors' title in 2024, the team expects a fiercer battle against rivals like McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes, who showed signs of competitiveness throughout the season. Marko believes that the field will be more closely grouped in the final year of the current regulations as teams adapt and refine their designs based on successful concepts.
