Motherwell's Lennon Miller escapes a red card despite a dangerous tackle on Rangers' Oscar Cortes, sparking debate among former players and officials.

Former SFA referee Bobby Madden has stated that a 'straightforward' red card was missed for Motherwell star Lennon Miller against Rangers . Philippe Clement saw his side battle back from two goals down at Fir Park after goals from Apostolos Stamatelopoulos and Tawanda Maswanhise were cancelled out by Hamza Igamane's double to would rescue a point. However, a moment of controversy occurred when wonderkid Miller flew into a tackle on Rangers ' winger Oscar Cortes.

The 18-year-old appeared to catch the forward on the ankle with the tackle - with former Ibrox hero Kris Boyd believing it had been a narrow let off from referee Kevin Clancy and Steven McLean in the VAR room with only a booking being dished out. He told Sky Sports: 'I think Lennon Miller is a little bit lucky here. You can understand, he goes over the top of him, but he does catch Oscar Cortes on the ankle there. I think he is very lucky.' Madden was even more emphatic about the controversial call. He posted to Instagram with a clip of the flashpoint, captioning: 'Here you see the defender lunging over the ball and making contact on the ankle and the turn of the ankle. This should be a VAR intervention and quite a straightforward red card for serious foul play.
